The Portage Junk Yard Dogs Cycling Club (JYD) provides facilities for outdoor activities. JYD maintains a 12 km all-season biking and hiking trail system along the Assiniboine River, which is groomed in the winter for fat tire biking, snowshoeing and hiking. The Club also grooms classic cross country ski trails on the Portage Golf Course. The cost of constructing and maintaining these trail systems is funded through the sale of membership. Membership is required to use the trail systems.

JYD also operates Kids of Mud, a learn-to-ride and learn-to-race program for kids 16 and younger.
